What could be cooler than combining Ice Cream and Gelato? Throw Carpigiani (Gelato University in Italy) and Siba Mtongana in the mix, and you have the first Ice Cream and Gelato festival in Africa. This event is proudly hosted by The Grove Mall in partnership with Carpigiani and takes place from 1 – 6 October 2019.

The festival will give shoppers a scoop of The Grove Mall. The Coolest Fest will certainly bring a lot of smiles and fond memories back and create new ones for all shoppers. The highlight of the festival is the Gelato making championships. Shoppers can enter and stand a chance to participate in the Gelato Making World Championship in Italy.

Gelato University is a world-renowned gelato school that was initiated in 2003 by ice cream machine maker Carpigiani. Students from across the world are taught the art of Italian artisan gelato making. They are adding an African twist on this festival by combining forces with South African celebrity chef and food enthusiast, Siba Mtongana. Mtongana is known as the host of the Cooking Channel show Siba’s Table and Cooking with Siba.

A couple of fun-filled days will take place at The Grove Mall around The Ice Rink and will offer activities for the whole family. Apart from the tasting experience offered to shoppers, there will also be exhibitors and the excitement surrounding the Gelato making championships, with local MC Martin Bester on 5 October. Furthermore, shoppers can get excited about exclusive Gin & Gelato tastings on 1 & 5 October with an International Chef from Carpigiani – bookings will open soon and seats are subject to availability.
