Barbara Mac Vay from the Gauteng Region, Province has been announced as a Bare Beauty Mrs. South Africa Semi-finalist for 2022, as the country emerges from the challenges of the last two years and into a season of hope.
Her journey began as a semi-finalist, on 5th March 2022, where she was announced virtually on the Mrs. South Africa official Instagram page, along with the other beautiful, sophisticated, and married women from all over South Africa, and attended a self-development workshop held at Emperors Palace, to prepare the class of 2022 for the road ahead.
Mrs. South Africa is a journey based on pillars of Self-Development, Community Work, Networking, and Business, and has gained the reputation of connecting like-minded women and equipping them for success in all areas of their lives. At its core, this is a platform that celebrates authentic, relatable, and modern South African women. Mrs. South Africa recognizes the value of marriage and the essence of being a “Bonafide” woman.
The program was created for married women who would ordinarily not have such a platform to compete and be ambassadors for South Africa, on a global scale. The opportunities and platforms that have been created for Mrs. South Africa entrants are significant in every way and it truly creates a ripple effect across our beautiful country. Throughout the journey, women discover themselves again and learn that they are never too old to follow their dreams and become voices of change.

Ek is gebore in Kensington by die Mary Mount Hospitaal, ek woon tans in Woodmere, Germiston. Ek het groot geword in Kensington en toe later het ons na Primrose getrek waar ek gebly het tot en met 1994 toe ons Kaap toe trek

Ek is ‘n Finansiële rekenmeesteres by ‘n firma vir die afgelope 10 jaar.

Ek is ‘n ma van 2 seuns en ‘n ouma van 2. Getroud met my beste vriend vir die afgelope 7 jaar. Ek is ‘n spontane mens, ‘n sterk vrou met n sterk persoonlikheid. Soos elke mens het ek maar my af dae en goeie dae.
Hoe het jy 2020 tot nou in 2021 ervaar?
2020 was ‘n moeilike jaar vir my want ek was baie sieklik gewees in Feb 2020 het ek ‘n groot operasie gehad net voor die land in lockdown gegaan het. In Julie 2020 het ek Covid gekry so erg dat ek in die hospitaal beland het. 2021 was seker een van my slegste jare ooit wat ek nooit weer wil beleef. Op die 13 Junie 2021 is my ma oorlede en ek dink ‘n deel van my is dood saam haar, my ma was my alles al het ons baklei was die band tussen ‘n ma en ‘n dogter sterker as enigiets. Die dood van my ma het my as mens gebreek en ek ervaar haar dood bitter erg. Ek mis haar elke dag van my lewe maar ek berus myself dat sy op n beter plek is waar sy nie meer siek is. As ek moet as mens my vergelyk van 2020 tot 2021 sal ek se eks ‘n gebreekte mens wat stukkie vir stukkie probeer haar lewe aanmekaar gom.
Wat het jou laat besluit om deel te neem aan Mev Suid Afrika?
Dink die grootste rede was om myself te vind, om my selfbeeld te herbou en ek doen dit vir my ma want sy het my altyd aangemoedig om beter te wees as die persoon wat jy was gister.
Watter Liefdadigheid wil jy graag ondersteun?
Ou mensies en kinders is baie na aan my hart maar wat my breek is hoe mense diere mishandel. Ek en my man is albei betrokke by liefdadighede vir diere wat mishandel was. As ek moet n liefdadigheid kies sal ek die Tsitsikamma Wolf Sanctuary kies. Hierdie wolve is gered uit vreeslike omstandighede en word beskerm by die sanctuary
Wat is jou visie sou jy wen?
Ek dink elke vrou is ‘n wenner, om net sover te gekom het vir my is ‘n eer. Maar AS ek die titel sou wen is my visie om vroue aan te moedig om op te staan so baie getroude vrouens let go as hulle trou want hulle wy hulle hele lewe toe om n vrou te wees en ‘n ma te wees die fondasie van die huis. Omrede ek ‘n vol figuur is wil ek vrouens daar buite wys jy hoef nie skaam te wees of terug te staan omdat jy nie in ‘n bikini kan inkom. Soos hulle sê in Engels: you’re a women let your spirit shine be the light because you are the light.” En dan natuurlik sal ek voortgaan met liefdadigheid vir diere want hulle het nie stem nie, so ek sal die stem wees vir die diere.

Almal dink ek is’ n ekstrovert maar ek is in teendeel ‘n introvert. Al kom ek voor om happy go lucky te wees wanneer ek hartseer is wil ek alleen wees of wanneer ek deur ‘n moeilike tyd gaan wil ek alleen wees. Ek wys nie my seer nie ek hou alles terug.
Wat inspireer jou?
Om n beter mens te wees as die vorige dag. Mense met ‘n visie, met ambisie en die vermoë om take te voltooi
Wat is op jou emmerskoplys?
Ek wil graag my vrees vir hoogtes oorkom en bungie jump doen maar of ek ooit dit sal doen is nog n vraag

Ek verjaar die 16 November 1973 en as ek terug kyk was ek op n vrydag gebore 9h00 die oggend
